weekly report 14 September.

A lot happened this week. It is not really possible or practical to mention everyone or everything, so I have picked out a few things. Thanks to folk that gave me some material to make the writing of the weekly summary a bit easier.

As Stuart is on holiday this week, everyone else moves up a place. It is very noteworthy that first and third on this week’s podium are ladies. Well done Olivia and Judy. Olivia's Sunday evening Zwift session helped her jump into first place at the eleventh hour. 208 miles is a massive total. The ladies are split by Chris who also topped the 200 mile marker. Well done, Sir. He also claims the week’s longest ride at almost 81 miles.

We had a good turnout on Tuesday evening. Nobble hung on at close to 18mph but reports that Lee and Leigh were super strong. In the other group, it was good to hear that Craig Avery and Phil Tirgu were out. Jamie also returned following a 2 month absence due to a broken foot.

Nobble also made his debut on a C&D ride as did Ian. Well done, Ian, for sticking to the ride even though you found it tough. Jamie also backed up his Tuesday evening ride with a C&D outing. The talking point was Sue not finishing her cronut, double-bagging the bit she couldn’t eat, putting in her jersey pocket, and getting it home in one piece. We always get top notch pastries at Medicine Bakery, Codsall.

Only 3 brave souls did the Wednesday MTB ride. Regrettably, the weather was against them. They got a bit wet but not cold and had fun exploring some single track. Nobble would have been proud of the two wearing shorts. Post-ride refreshments at Wetherspoons were well deserved.

On Thursday, Paul B, James and Sarah did what looks to have been a lumpy ride over the chase. Well done on all that climbing.

On Friday, Bobster led a Friday 40 over to Lizzie’s café at Upper Aston near Claverley. Only 4 out of 10 for my excessively urban first ten miles. Sorry, guys. I have made the necessary route amendments for rides heading to the west or south-west of Wolverhampton. Don disappeared but later checked in to advise that he had extended his ride and gone to Kinver

Please check my post from Saturday regarding the Saturday social. Bobster, Damo, Chris H, Olivia and Rob T had a largely relaxed outing to Strawberry Cabin.

Sunday’s tempo ride was only Damo, Leigh and Crock. It was the advertised 53 miler to Four Shires. Crock peeled off at some point on the way home, but the other two did the full course. Sounds like Damo was riding strongly … like he did on Saturday.

The classic was well attended by all accounts. 8 riders set off and picked up a further 2 on the way. The group then split into two. Ade and Olivia scampered ahead but in their eagerness overshot the turn to Footherley. The slower bods stuck to the route and waited for them to realise their error - it didn’t take long! Aldridge saw the gents peel off towards HQ while the ladies headed towards Streetly with talk of “going to pat a greyhound”.

As ever, well done to everyone who get their bike out and rode.
