A Message from Your Club President

Hi everyone,

I’m writing to share some important updates regarding our club leadership.

Recently, our Chairman, Les, resigned after several years of dedicated service. Leading a club like ours is a rewarding role, but it is also a consuming and tiring job that carries a significant weight. We are incredibly grateful for everything Les has done for us.

Leadership Transition

Our Vice Chair, Martin, stepped in during the interim to pick up the slack. During this time, we also elected David as a second Vice Chair, who has been learning the ropes and helping manage our very busy cycling schedule.

However, Martin has decided he would like to step back and focus more on his own cycling. He feels the responsibilities of the Chairmanship have begun to detract from his love for the sport. Martin has requested that we begin the process of electing a new permanent Chairperson through a formal vote by the members.

Putting the "Joy" Back in Cycling

While Martin offered to stay in the seat until an EGM and election are finalized, I have encouraged him to step down sooner to reclaim his passion for riding ASAP. We, the committee and the members, can manage things in the meantime.

I’ve been in this position myself—when I ran Shire Oak, the only way I could rediscover my joy for cycling was to resign and focus on my own well-being for a while. It works, and it’s the right move.

A Thank You to Martin

I want to say a huge thank you to Martin for his service over the last few years—first as a committee member, then as Vice Chair, and finally as Chair. Pelsall Social Cycling Club (PSCC) simply doesn't survive without that kind of commitment.

Please show Martin your support. It takes a brave person to recognize when they need to step back; knowing when to say "no" is a sign of true strength.

Moving Forward

  • David will serve as our Interim Chairperson. He is available for any questions regarding club matters and is also eligible to apply for the permanent position if he chooses.

  • I will also be stepping forward to assist with club operations until a new Chair is elected.

  • We will provide plenty of notice regarding the election process. We aren't going to rush this; we want to give everyone time to consider the role.

We have so many vocal, enthusiastic members who could bring incredible energy to this position. Being Chair is all about fostering positive energy and keeping the club moving forward. I hope those of you who feel ready for a challenge will consider giving it a go.

In the meantime, it is business as usual. Keep the rubber to the road and enjoy your cycling and your friends!

Best regards,

Your Club President
